ZevXchange – a web portal trading service for clean air credits – founded by Bob Schaffer and Rex Smith, it was the first of it’s kind in 2000. Providing an opportunity for Electric Vehicle Manufactures to trade there Clean air credits, mandated by CARB (California Air Resource Board) to Honda, Toyota, Nissan, GM, Ford and Chrysler. While OEM’s developed vehicles to address this unique California need, Ford purchased “Think” electric vehicles and Chrysler purchased “GEM” as a quick solution to the pressing need. GM worked with ZevXchange to develop an electric vehicle and overall strategy to address the clean air credit need. Thus, in conjunction with Club Car (Ingersol Rand), GM and ZevXchange started Pathway Motors. Over 12,000 vehicles were sold, leased (thru Direct Source Leasing), and over $60,000,000.00 in Clean Air credits were awarded.
